While Max buries his nose in comic books and daydreams about dragons, Lily pays attention to the world around her. She’s the first one awake in the morning, the one who collects interesting stones along the way, and the one who notices the things others miss — the quiet hesitation on her grandmother’s face, the symbols carved into an old stone, the smell of something unexplainable drifting through the trees.
